I have a date with God every morning. It is the first thing I do in the morning before getting dressed. Of course, I freshen up a bit for God and prepare myself to give Him my undivided attention. This time lasts usually about an hour and a half. I sit quietly in my chair for a few moments and clear my mind. I genuinely ask God to open my heart to what He has prepared to reveal to me. These few moments allow me to come into His presence ready to fellowship with Him.
During my morning date with God, I work through my Bible study and also my Sunday School lesson. My current Bible study is Experiencing God by Henry Blackaby. As a missionary, I strive to continue my Biblical growth through organized Biblical studies and also independent reading of the Bible. I study a section of the Sunday School material for young adults through Lifeway. A little studying everyday allows for me to better understand the concepts that are being focused on so that I can facilitate discussion during our Sunday School time.
Through these studies, God reveals words for the moment. I like to think of these as His love letters to me. Just as a man pursues a woman in a relationship, God pursues us as His children. These love letters come in many forms including the Bible study, Sunday school lesson, passages in a book, and pictures on Facebook. As I fellowship with God throughout the day, God leaves love letters to encourage me on a righteous path.
